Purpose Of The United Methodist Women

"The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the Church."

Fairfields United Methodist Women

We meet the second Wednesday of each month at 11:00 a.m. at Fairfields United Methodist Church. 
We have "Devotions" followed by a business meeting.  On several occasions we go out to lunch as a group.

A few of the Afton and Fairfields ladies present items purchased by church members to benefit The Haven shelter.	Ellen Yackel from The Haven is smiling and no wonder! Her van is full of items collected by the Afton and Fairfields United Methodist Women for use at the shelter.

Some of the organizations we help support include

• Three Rivers Healthy Family
• Heart Haven - a home for mentally challenged adults
• Mattaponi Youth
• The Haven - a shelter for abused women
• Covington-Hurst Education Fund - a scholarship fund for local high school seniors as well as others wishing to pursue higher education or job training
• Meals on Wheels - we deliver meals
• Northern Neck Free Health Clinic - we provide meals for volunteers  and staff several times a year
